Mental health is a challenging topic for people to discuss, but it is an issue that deeply affects college students. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, 30.9% of adults aged 18-25 struggle with serious mental health issues. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the rates have gotten worse, bringing new challenges for schools to properly help their students.

The Moreau Center has begun organizing this year’s immersion programs that are designed to engage students in service-learning at home and across the country. Participating students will travel both in and outside of Portland to work with communities affected by current social issues.

In UP athletics since Sept. 24 the men’s tennis team competed in the PNW invitational and the women’s tennis teams competed in the Gonzaga invitational. Women’s soccer took on Utah Valley and Men’s soccer took on Utah tech, both remaining undefeated. Volleyball took on Pacific University and Loyola Marymount.
