As college students, everyone knows how it feels to be drowning in work, getting paper cuts trying to crawl out of the piles of essays that seem to always be due all in the same week. In our connected era of technology, students now have another way to use the internet to their benefit. Last fall, ChatGPT was introduced: an OpenAI dialogue artificial intelligence (AI) that can help students in many ways such as answering questions, writing code and writing essays.

While most students were on spring break, the Portland women’s basketball team won the West Coast Conference (WCC) tournament on March 6 in Las Vegas. To win the WCC tournament they beat the no. 1 seed Gonzaga 64-60 on March 7. After losing to the Bulldogs in both regular season games the Pilot’s found redemption with a late game win.

At ASUP, we are no strangers to adversity. Our goal in ASUP is to be transparent in what work we do with our wins and our challenges. This school year we have been working without a full-time advisor and spent much of the fall semester working internally to build a stronger team. Despite these challenges we have learned a lot about what our role is on campus. The role of a student government is to represent students and advocate for what students not only want but need. This fall we also revised our mission statement to better reflect the work we do.

I was sitting in my drawing class and I decided to put on the album “M!ssundaztood” by P!nk (which is a vibe by the way). This was based purely on a whim after I had seen a Tiktok starring P!nk and it unlocked a memory — me in the car on the way to school years ago vibing to her music — this album in particular — with my dad.

The University has hired Jackie Moran from Grand River Solutions to serve the roles previously held by the Title IX coordinator position. Moran was introduced at Tuesday night's Title IX Information Session and Q&A. During this, Moran and Herdener discussed the Title IX department at UP, what resources students have, and what their roles are in the department.

Everyone knows what student government is: a group of students that meet regularly and are supposed to advocate for the rights and needs for the whole student body. In some high schools, student government might not have been as prevalent in making actionable change.
