As the month comes to an end, some University of Portland students have been spending November celebrating Native American Heritage month. While only less than 1% of UP undergraduate students identify as American Indian or Alaskan Native, the month still provides some students with a time of cultural appreciation and remembrance.
The Beacon talked with members of the Native American Alliance from UP to hear the importance of celebrating Native American Heritage month. As part of the celebration, Native American Alliance will have a Pilots Paint event on Nov. 26 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in St. Mary’s.
