Love is in the air. Whether you like it or not, you can smell Valentine’s Day floating around the corner. Regardless of if you’ve given much thought to the holiday, giving Valentine’s Day gifts is one way to show love to your partners and friends.

As students struggle to balance homework and relationships, finding bargain gifts that show appreciation for loved ones can be time consuming. If you’re ready to spend on a budget, The Beacon has you covered for five affordable and heartwarming presents you can give your dearest this Valentine’s Day season.

Bloom Haus Alstroemeria Fresh Flowers Bunch ($5)

Fred Meyer has a flower section year-round, and around this time, these affordable flowers are ready to depart as the perfect gift. The sweet colors and smells of bouquet flowers bring joy to a person’s day, and these alstroemeria flowers bring positivity and match the pink theme of any Valentine’s occasion.

Hershey’s and Reese’s sets of candies ($3.99)

Depending on your lover’s or friend’s taste in treats, a heart-shaped box of either Hershey’s Chocolates or Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups makes for another fun gift, especially since these treats are sold nearby at Fred Meyer. A delicious box of candies, this gift doesn’t have to be dedicated to just one person but can also be shared with many people.

Aurora World Love Ya Candy Heart ($6.99

While walking around a grocery store’s Valentine’s gift section, there are a lot of plushies you can search for. Instead of going for a stuffed animal you could get any time of year, get a heart plushie with a “Love Ya” message, perfect for the Valentine’s occasion. As a bonus, this heart-shaped stuffed animal can be something else to hold on this hearty occasion.

Rice Krispie Love Notes ($4.82)

If it’s difficult going out of your way to find the perfect treat basket from an off-campus grocery store, Mack’s Market has you covered with Rice Krispie Treats with blank spaces for messages to make for a unique Valentine’s Day themed snack. On the wrapper’s blank heart-shaped spaces, you can write sweet love notes to your special valentine, all while treating them to a delicious snack.

Strawberry Pocky ($2.39)

Pocky are biscuit sticks coated in a variety of flavors such as chocolate or matcha — but not only is strawberry the perfect flavor for Valentine’s Day, these Pockys also come in a pink color to match the holiday. Try getting this strawberry Pocky and other sweet treats from Mack’s Market to create your own Valentine’s Day basket for your special valentine.
