Pilots men’s and women’s cross country teams raced in the 2024 NCAA DI West Regional Nov. 15. Both teams placed fifth overall, short of the top-two team result needed to automatically qualify for the NCAA DI National Championship.

Individually, redshirt senior Matt Strangio finished second overall with a time of 29:08.4 in the men’s 10k, while redshirt senior Laura Pellicorio finished eighth with a time of 19:42.5 in the women's 6k. Both runners qualified for nationals with their performances. Strangio and Pellicorio, along with redshirt senior Jona Bodirsky and sophomore Fleur Templier, also made the all region team.

Cross country fans can catch Strangio and Pellicorio at the NCAA DI National Championship Nov. 23 at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in Verona, Wisconsin.

Editor's note: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that the top-four teams overall automatically quality for the NCAA DI National Championship. Only the top-two teams automatically qualify.
