On Sept. 8, the University of Portland’s School of Nursing and Health Innovation (SONHI) will hold a mass for 2018 alum Melissa Jubane at 4:15 p.m. in the Chapel of Christ the Teacher.
A memorial for Jubane will be offered to the nursing community at a later date.
“The School of Nursing and Health Innovation mourns the loss of Melissa Jubane, a 2018 graduate,” a post on SONHI’s Instagram said. “We send our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues for this unspeakable tragedy.”
Jubane’s remains were found on Sept. 7 following a lengthy investigation after she did not arrive for work at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Southwest Portland on Sept. 4, according to KOIN 6.
Her neighbor, 27-year-old Bryce Johnathan Schubert, was arrested on Friday and charged with her murder, according to authorities.
No further details are available at this time, according to KOIN 6.
All members of the UP community are invited to come together in prayer on Sept. 8.
“She [Jubane] exemplified UP Pilot Nurse values, and the entire SONHI community will miss her greatly,” a post on SONHI’s Instagram said.
