Read on for a closer look at the inductees.
Megan Rapinoe, Women’s Soccer
As a Pilot, Rapinoe was an integral player on the 2005 national championship-winning team, starting in all 25 games and scoring 15 goals for the Pilots. For her work that season, Rapinoe was named Soccer Times National Freshman of the Year. Though plagued by injury in 2006 and 2007, Rapinoe managed to score 30 goals with 28 assists in 50 games as a Pilot.
Following her time at UP, Rapinoe went on to help the U.S. Women’s National Team win Olympic gold in 2012, and the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2015 and 2019. Rapinoe also collected several individual accolades, such as the Ballon d’Or Féminin and The Best FIFA Women’s Player of 2019, while famously advocating for equal pay.
Michelle Enyeart, Women’s Soccer
Enyeart helped the Pilots with four straight NCAA Quarterfinals appearances and three WCC titles during her time at the university. She was the WCC Freshman of the Year in 2006 and the WCC Player of the Year in 2009. She is one of only 12 Pilots to be named to three All-WCC First Teams. Enyeart ended her time at UP with 48 goals and 40 assists.
Angie Woznuk Kerr, Women's Soccer
Woznuk Kerr’s claim to UP fame is scoring the game-winning goal and two assists in the 2005 national championship title game. She joined Enyeart as one of 12 Pilots to be named to three All-WCC First Teams and was a three-time All-American. Woznuk Kerr ended her UP career with 19 goals and 34 assists.
Following her time at the university, Woznuk Kerr enjoyed five professional seasons in the Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) league and its successor, the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). Woznuk Kerr also played with the USWNT between 2005-2009 with 10 appearances and two goals.
Eugene “Pooh” Jeter, Men’s Basketball
UP icon Jeter is ranked No. 2 in all-time points scored in the program. Jeter also ranks in the top 5 all-time in field goals made, three-pointers, free throws and free throw percentage.
Jeter was also named to the All-WWC First Team in 2004 and 2006.
After his time at UP, Jeter spent 18 seasons playing professional basketball in six different countries, including one season in the NBA for the Sacramento Kings. Notably, Jeter holds dual citizenship in Ukraine and helped the Ukrainian national team qualify for their first International Basketball Federation (FIBA) World Cup.
David Kinsella, Men’s Cross Country and Track
During his time at the University, Kinsella led the pilots to three top-14 team finishes at the NCAA Men’s Cross Country Championships and ran the school's best all-time individual finish at the national championships, placing fourth in 2008.
Kinsella was also named the University of Portland Male Student-Athlete of the Year in 2007 and 2009.
Tansey Lystad Hensley, Women's Cross Country and Track
Lystad Hensley holds the record for the best individual finish at the NCAA Women’s Cross Country Championships with her 15th overall placement in 2015. She similarly holds school records in the outdoor 5,000-meter run and the 2,000-meter steeplechase. Lystad Hensley also won the 2014 individual WCC Cross Country Championship title and was the University of Portland Female Student-Athlete of the Year in 2015.
Following her time at UP, Lystad Hensley continued to compete competitively through 2021.
Lucia Butkovska, Women’s Tennis
During Butkovska’s tenure in Pilot purple, she led the 2015 women’s tennis team to the first national ranking and WCC Tournament Finals appearance in program history. Butkovska ranked as high at No. 60 in her competitive seasons and gave the program their only win against a top-10 opponent. She left UP with a singles record of 45-10.
Kory Casto, Baseball
Though Casto hasn’t competed on The Bluff since the early 2000s, he still ranks eighth in slugging percentage, third in home runs, fourth in runs batted in and ninth in total bases — making him one of the top hitters in the program’s history. In 2003, he batted .388 with a .637 slugging percentage.
After his career at UP, Casto played eight seasons of professional baseball.
Professor Robert Duff, Meritorious Service
Duff spent 47 years at the university, teaching and serving on the university’s athletic committee. He also represented the school as its Faculty Athletic Representative to the WCC and NCAA from 1992-2004.
