Cyclist suffers non-life-threatening injuries after hit and run near campus

Portland Police are still investigating

At 12:27 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29, Portland Police responded to reports of a hit-and-run near N. Willamette Blvd. and N. Westanna Avenue.

According to Portland Police Public Information Manager Mike Brenner, a vehicle swerved into the bike lane, striking a cyclist before fleeing the scene.

Paramedics treated the cyclist, a man estimated to be in his mid-50s, at the scene before transporting him to a nearby hospital. His injuries are reported as non-life threatening.

Authorities confirmed that the cyclist is not believed to be a University of Portland student. Portland Police policy prohibits releasing the names of victims.
