Pilots tennis and beach volleyball wrap up their regular seasons and prepare for their games in the opening round of the 2024 WCC Championships.

With the end of the semester around the corner, many spring sports are wrapping up their seasons. Take a break from your studies and projects to read the last Pilots RoundUP of the 2024 spring semester. 

Men’s tennis:

The Pilots played Santa Clara University in their final match of the 2024 WCC spring tennis season on Friday, April 19 and lost 5-2. Pilot senior Oscar Brown picked up two accolades, earning WCC All-Academic honors and a place in the All-WCC Second Team for singles play. They ended their season with an overall record of 9-9 and a WCC record of 3-5.

Men’s tennis has qualified for the 2024 WCC Tournament, held at San Diego State University, and will play the University of the Pacific in the opening round on Thursday, April 24, at 10:00 a.m. 

Women’s tennis:

Women’s tennis played the University of the Pacific in their final match of the 2024 WCC spring tennis season on Saturday, April 20 and lost 4-2. Pilot seniors Iva Zeliz, Rimona Rouf, Rose Watanabe and Jojo Bach were honored during the women’s tennis senior celebration before the game. 

In addition to senior honors, Pilot juniors Alexsandra Dimitrijevic and Sally Pethybridge were named to the 2024 WCC Women’s Tennis All-Academic Team for their stellar performance in the classroom. Women’s tennis ended their season with an overall record of 10-11 and a WCC record of 3-5.

The Pilots have qualified for the 2024 WCC Tournament, held at San Diego State University. Women’s tennis will play the University of the Pacific in the opening round on Thursday, April 24 at 1:00 p.m.

Beach Volleyball:

The Pilots played the University of Oregon at home on Friday, April 19 and lost 4-1, concluding their regular season. The loss brings their overall record to 10-11. Pilot seniors Sophie Lee and Kili Robins were honored during the beach volleyball senior celebration at the game. 

Next, the Pilots will travel to compete at the 2024 WCC Championships which will start on Thursday, April 25 and run until Saturday, April 27.

Baseball:

The Pilots traveled to play Gonzaga University on Friday, April 19 in a three-game series over the weekend. In the first game on Friday, April 19, Pilot pitcher Nick Brink threw eight strikeouts, but the Pilots lost 2-1. 

On Saturday, April 20, the Pilots beat Gonzaga University 4-3 in their second match. To finish off the series against Gonzaga, on Sunday, April 21, the Pilots lost 13-9. The Pilots traveled to play Oregon State University on Tuesday, April 23 and lost 7-2. The Pilots’ overall record now stands at 23-15, while their WCC record is 9-3.

Pilots baseball will now travel to play a three-game weekend series against Loyola Marymount University starting on Friday, April 26.

Women’s rowing:

Pilots rowing will travel to compete at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships starting on Saturday, April 27.

Men and Women’s Track and Field:

Pilots track and field will race on Friday, April 26 at Oregon State University’s High-Performance competition.

B
