Lingering ice and snow throughout campus and the Portland metro area have prompted the UP campus to remain closed throughout the day Thursday, Jan. 18, per an email sent from Vice President of Financial Affairs, Eric Barger.

The mail center and Clark Library will remain closed as well with the Beauchamp Recreation and Wellness Center expected to be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., according to the email.

This marks the third day in a row of campus closure due to winter weather for students preparing for the beginning of the spring semester. Given these conditions, faculty have been given the continued option to hold classes remotely via virtual meetings to keep on track with course schedules. Students are also requested to check their Moodle pages for class updates and plans going forward.

“This is unusual weather for Oregon, but folks in our community have really stepped up,” Barger said in the email. “We deeply appreciate all the staff and student workers in Facilities Services, Campus Safety, Bon Appetit, Beauchamp Center for Health and Wellness, and Residence Life who have been working hard to make campus safe and care for our students.”
