Early this semester, a group of 14 goats — and one hen named Juniper — moved to North Portland. For the last couple of years, the Belmont Goats have called Southeast Portland their home. But now, the fourteen goats and one hen will share a neighborhood with many University of Portland students.
The goats live on a plot of land near North Syracuse street, about a mile from campus. Visiting hours for the animals are usually 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays but can vary depending on the weather and availability of volunteers.
