Thursday’s welcomed sunshine allowed for dry hair, breaking out the spring wardrobe and slightly fewer potholes littering Portland streets.
The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) began work Thursday morning on an effort to fill potholes left scattered throughout Portland-area roads after a series of winter storms in December and January. The project is nicknamed “Patch-a-Thon.”
“In the coming weeks, PBOT will hold a Patch-a-Thon on those days when the weather permits effective and safe pothole repair,” PBOT spokesman John Brady told KGW. “PBOT will continue Path-a-Thon until the winter pothole backlog has been cleared.”
Students have complained of deep potholes threatening their tires along Willamette Blvd., a street that is listed on PBOT’s interactive map of targeted potholes.
PBOT said it fills over 8,000 potholes a year in Portland.
Citizens are encouraged to report potholes by sending a detailed description and photos to PBOT dispatchers email at pdxroads@portlandoregon.gov. You can also call PBOT’s maintenance line, 503-823-1700.
