Midterms are here, which means lots of late nights and early morning coffees. This year the Writing Center is hosting the first annual Write @ Night event to help students survive midterms. This Wednesday, the Writing Center (in Buckley Center 163) will have writing tutors on call from 9 p.m. to midnight to help students with upcoming papers.

Students should bring their essay prompts, computers and any work they have done to the event.

The event will also have coffee, food and raffles available throughout the night. Students do not have to make an appointment to meet with a tutor, but tutors will be there if students need help. No matter where you may be in the writing process all students are welcome to come, however, space is limited and based on a first come first-served basis.

Cara Hersh, director of the Writing Center, created this event to assist students during the midterm crunch time. Write @ Night will create a supportive environment for those students who may need help writing those last minute papers.

“Our goal is to create a space where students can work on their writing in a more fun and supportive environment,” Hersh said. “The space can get you focused so you’re not tempted to turn on the TV or search the internet.”

Hersh hopes that all students will be able to attend this event, especially students who may have been hesitant to check out the Learning Commons. She said Write @ Night will be a great way to see what the Writing Center has to offer.

“I would love to see students who haven’t been to the Writing Center before,” Hersh said. “It will be a good way to introduce the space as well as the writing assistants.”
