We are writing to confirm that ASUP President Osman resigned from his position, effective February 1, 2016. Those of us serving on the ASUP Executive Board want to thank President Osman for his service to the University, and we wish him the very best in his future endeavors. While we were saddened to see a member of the team step away, we respect Khalid’s decision, and we hope each of you will join us in thanking him for his service to the University of Portland.

As we move forward, the ASUP Executive Board remains dedicated to working together as a team to ensure this transition occurs as seamlessly as possible. The Executive Board will continue to work to implement the platform of change that President Osman and Vice President Holmes campaigned on.

We remain committed to working together to ensure that student government works to serve the needs of the student body. Our work is not done yet - there is much that remains to be done. We ask that you support the new Constitution, which is a something that ASUP has been tirelessly working to adopt. We encourage all of you to vote yes on the amendments to the ASUP Constitution, all of which have been designed to make student government at UP more effective and efficient for the student body.

The application to run for ASUP President for the remaining term opened on February 2nd at 12pm and will close on February 8th at 12pm. Elections will be held to elect a new President at the same time that we are all voting on the amendments to the ASUP Constitution on February 16th and 17th.

All of us on Executive Board want to assure each of you that your concerns remain our top priority, and we will be working collectively as a team to serve the interests of the student body.

Sincerely,

Interim President Holmes

Interim Vice President Rojo

Treasurer Zabinski

CPB Director van den Berg
