The finals of the case competition for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants is around the corner and NorthWest Accountants, a team representing UP, is on their way. Junior accounting majors Isaac Mansuetti, Connor Ward and Lance Chee have made it to the semi-finals of the competition along with 14 other groups from across the country. This segment is scored on popular vote based on a video proposal, and the team hopes to receive enough votes to send them to the finals in Durham, North Carolina.

The AICPA case competition allows students to present a proposal to further the growth of a fictional company, Gizmo Toys. The top three plans will be presented at the finals for a chance to win $10,000 and extra money for the winning team's university.

"In our video, we talk about the pros and cons of Gizmo moving manufacturing to either the U.S. or Slovenia, and we also have to provide our recommendation for dealing with a bribery issue in Slovenia," Mansuetti said. "In other words, we are basically playing the role of 'consultant'."
