Some of UP's best and brightest gathered in the library for the seventh annual UP Authors' reception Thursday.

The event showcased the publications of over 100 UP professors, staff, students and alumni from across the university's departments and schools. This included 27 student co-authors who assisted with faculty research.

In case you missed it, reference and instruction librarian Diane Stoak gave The Beacon some highlights of the event:

  • Biology professor David Taylor named a new plant genus.
  • Environmental science professor Bob Butler is part of a team that publishes animations of earthquakes for educators to use after a significant earthquake.
  • Social work professor Alice Gates and communication studies professor Vail Fletcher published a journal article on the Nicaragua service immersion along with student co-authors María-Guadalupe Ruiz-Tolento and Tadell Velloso.
