What is your UP claim to fame?
I am lucky enough to serve as the Campus Program Board Director this year!
When I was a freshman….
I didn’t even go to UP. I actually went to Boise State and after visiting my sister realized I was missing out, so here I am!
Best piece of advice you received from someone during your time here?
The best piece of advice I received from someone during my time here was to make sure I was pursing a major because I liked it, not because it would get me a “good job”! After all, you work for practically forever, so it is important that you like what you are doing!
What are three pieces of wisdom you learned during your time at UPortland that you want to impart to those coming next?
- Get involved – I love UP and transferred here because of the awesome community. We are lucky because with a small school it is SO easy to get involved. There is practically a club for any interest. Who knows, you may find a new passion. You can always join one of the coolest orgs on campus too, CPB!
- Always say YES- To many times did I say no to getting ice cream or doing something with friends because I felt I was too busy. Trust me when I say your homework can wait, everyone deserves a study break once in awhile!
- Enjoy every moment- I know this is super cheesy, but college goes by so fast, make sure you stop and enjoy it!
Commons or Cove?
Cove. I love the salads and the wraps!
Best advice for experiencing Portland?
Always end with good food! There are so many late night treats. Also, stay here for a summer. The summer I spent in Portland while at school here was the best summer of my life. There is so much to do here in the summer, from festivals, outdoor concerts and the weather is amazing.
The infamous… what’s next?
Moving into an awesome, trendy, apartment with some great roommates (we are still on the house hunt!) and starting my position at Nike with the department I interned with! I am really excited to work at such a fun place and also be able to stay in Portland.
Any regrets?
That I didn’t go to UP since the beginning of my college career. I like to think I’ve made up for it though!
