Pilots took home their first win of conference play against Loyola Marymount at home on Jan. 15 by a score of 83-65.

The Pilots came out strong with senior Kari Luttinen sinking a pair of 3s in the opening minutes of the game. Senior Cassandra Brown followed closely with 22 points. This is the fourth consecutive game Brown has scored 20 or more points.

With a steal to open the second half, it was clear senior point guard Jasmine Wooton had the momentum to carry the team. Wooton led the Pilots with 30 points.

“I just let myself get in my zone,” Wooton said.

Wooton attributes her focus to her pre-game routine. Instead of socializing with her teammates, she spent time in the locker room focusing on how she would display aggression on the court. Wooton is the first Pilot to score 30 points this season.

Head Coach Cheryl Sorenson she said she did not coach any differently for the game against LMU, but she did say she increased the level of urgency and intensity in practice. It caused women to run faster and close more gaps on the court.

Sorenson hopes that if the women keep up the good work, they'll be poised to make a good run through March.
