The men’s soccer team came out strong in the first game of the season against the Linfield Wildcats on Friday night. The Pilots dominated the game, beating the Wildcats 4-0.

Senior forward Steven Corbett set the tone of the game by scoring the first goal in the 17thminute. Erik Edwardson, freshman midfielder/forward, assisted Corbett on the first goal and scored the second and third goals in his Pilots debut. Edwardson headed the ball into the net in the 19th minute, and shortly after Edwardson scored again from just inside the 18-yard box. Sophomore midfielder Matthew Coffey tapped in an assist four feet from the net which was set up by Corbett for the Pilots’ fourth goal.

With a record number of fans (over 4,100) and students (2,205) at the game, the Pilots fed off the crowd’s energy throughout the night. Senior defender/midfielder Derek Boggs put it perfectly, “The more people we get out here, maybe the more goals we’ll get.”
